In a significant development, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s office has announced a ban on the use of mobile phones within school premises. Both students and teachers are prohibited from using mobile devices. Violations of this ban will result in penalties and potential dismissal.
The decision was reached during a committee meeting consisting of 11 members held on Friday. The meeting discussed various aspects of implementing this ban in schools. Under the new regulations, teachers are required to deposit their mobile phones in the principal’s office while on duty, exempting administrative and managerial staff.
For emergency situations, certain exemptions may be considered. However, the rules and guidelines for such exceptions are yet to be finalized. In cases of disputes or incidents within school premises, Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) or higher-ranking officers will conduct investigations, as the current practice of involving local police stations often results in unsatisfactory outcomes.
Furthermore, if false allegations are made against individuals regarding incidents occurring during travel to or from school, the school management will not be held responsible.
These measures are being taken to address the growing concerns related to incidents and issues arising due to the use of mobile phones within school premises. The new regulations are expected to provide a framework for maintaining discipline and ensuring the safety of students and staff.
