WhatsApp is soon introducing a new Ownership Transfer feature for users. This feature will be available exclusively for those users who have created a channel, providing them with the option to transfer administrative rights.
WhatsApp is gearing up to add another new and unique feature to the app. This feature has been spotted in the Android beta version 2.24.2.17. In this feature, users will have the freedom to transfer Ownership. However, this feature will only allow the transfer of WhatsApp channel ownership. Users won’t be able to transfer the ownership of their groups or accounts. This WhatsApp feature is currently in the development phase and might be rolled out to all users with upcoming feature updates.
According to a report from WABetaInfo, this feature is currently in the development phase and is available only for selected beta testers. Ownership transfer implies that users who have created a channel can transfer their administrative rights to another user. Currently, WhatsApp channel ownership transfer is not possible, which limits users in managing it effectively. With the addition of the Ownership Transfer feature, any WhatsApp channel can be managed efficiently.
How to perform Ownership Transfer: As per the report, this upcoming feature for the instant messaging app will be completely secure, making it easy for users to transfer their ownership to another user. Beta users are beginning to see the option for Ownership Transfer in WhatsApp channels. This option will appear after tapping on the channel. Once users tap on Transfer Ownership, they will be prompted to enter the name of the other user. Additionally, users will have the option to remove the channel admin. Owners of a channel with administrative rights can remove any admin in the channel at their convenience.
This type of feature already exists for WhatsApp groups. In WhatsApp groups, the existing admin can make other members admins. However, the option for Ownership Transfer is not available in WhatsApp groups. If the user who created the group leaves it, the first joined member becomes the new admin, or if the main admin makes someone an admin before leaving the group, that person becomes the group admin.
