NIO, a prominent Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, achieved a groundbreaking milestone by delivering over 20,000 vehicles in July, establishing a new record for monthly sales. The remarkable success was chiefly propelled by the exceptional performance of the new ES6 model, which shattered NIO’s previous monthly sales record for a single vehicle.
Introduced in May, NIO’s second-generation ES6 electric SUV, despite its compact size, has proven to be a remarkable achiever.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, the EV manufacturer unveiled that it accomplished the delivery of an unprecedented 20,462 vehicles in July. This marked a remarkable increase of 103.6% compared to the previous year and an impressive surge of 91.1% from June. NIO attributed this remarkable feat to the resounding popularity of the new ES6 model, which achieved an outstanding monthly delivery record, exceeding 10,000 units.
NIO has succeeded in delivering a total of 75,023 electric vehicles during the first seven months of the year, thereby bringing their cumulative deliveries to an impressive figure of 364,579 vehicles. The new ES6 model has garnered considerable attention as NIO’s most pivotal creation thus far. Since its initial deliveries commenced in late 2019, the ES6 has risen as NIO’s best-selling model, offering a more economical alternative to the ES8.
Despite facing a dip in monthly sales in May, an anomaly in China’s major EV market, the ES6 has managed to spark considerable interest. A research report by the Chinese consumer behavior research agency CarFans revealed that NIO received around 30,000 pre-orders within merely three days of unveiling the ES6, establishing a noteworthy record for the year in terms of order intake.
The new ES6 is constructed on NIO’s advanced NT 2.0 EV platform and incorporates cutting-edge Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology driven by the NIO Adam supercomputer, which comprises four Nvidia DRIVE Orin system-on-chips (SoCs).
Moreover, NIO’s flagship locations have witnessed an impressive surge of 30% to 40% in overall traffic on a month-to-month basis, a momentum that has carried forward into early June. The remarkable popularity of the new ES6 model continues to reinforce NIO’s position in the ever-evolving electric vehicle landscape.
