Salman Khan’s highly anticipated film, “Tiger 3,” is poised for a strong opening weekend during the Diwali festivities. According to a recent report by The Wrap, the action-packed thriller will be screened in all 23 Imax theaters across India, edging out “The Marvels,” which is set to debut on November 10. “Tiger 3,” featuring Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Emraan Hashmi, is scheduled for release on Diwali 2023.
Indian box office expert and journalist, Jatinder Singh, mentioned in The Wrap’s report that Indian blockbuster films have consistently outperformed many Hollywood counterparts. He cited a notable example from 1998 when “Titanic” failed to claim the top-grossing spot for the year, as it was surpassed by Karan Johar’s “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,” starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji.
“Tiger 3” is expected to make a significant impact on the national holiday of Diwali, indicating that it is displacing a Hollywood film since IMAX theaters are opting for Bollywood releases. Both Bollywood and Tollywood (Telugu-language) films have frequently outperformed Hollywood blockbusters in India. Movies like “Pathaan” and “Jawan” achieved greater success at the Indian box office compared to Hollywood counterparts. Conversely, Indian films have also gained international recognition and success, as exemplified by Aamir Khan’s “Dangal” in the Chinese box office and “RRR” in the Western and Japanese markets.
“Tiger 3” is set to be released on November 10 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages. It serves as the third installment in the “Tiger” franchise, directed by Maneesh Sharma, with Emraan Hashmi playing the antagonist. The film expands the YRF Spy Universe franchise, continuing the narrative from “Tiger Zinda Hai” (2017), “War” (2019), and “Pathaan” (2023). It is rumored to feature a cameo appearance by Shah Rukh Khan’s “Pathaan,” who was seen alongside Salman Khan’s “Tiger” in Siddharth Anand’s blockbuster “Pathaan.”
