As cities gear up for New Year’s Eve celebrations, law enforcement is also taking measures to maintain law and order on December 31 and January 1. With just a day left, cities across the country have devised traffic advisories to help revelers navigate and overcome road congestion. State police have deployed personnel to prevent untoward incidents during the celebrations.
The Delhi Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory for New Year’s Eve celebrations in the national capital. They emphasized the importance of not mixing drinking and driving, urging people to arrive safely at their homes. Deployment of personnel will be concentrated in key locations, including Connaught Place, India Gate, Aerocity, Qutub Minar, Greater Kailash, Saket Mall, Netaji Subhash Place, Mukherjee Nagar area, Vasant Kunj Mall, EDM Mall, Pacific Mall, Champa Gali, Hudson lane, Hauz Khas, and other crowded places. Traffic control measures will be implemented in the Connaught Place area after 8 pm, according to SS Yadav, special commissioner of police (traffic), who also mentioned stricter action against those exhibiting drunken behavior and cases of drunk driving.
In Noida, the police issued a traffic advisory for December 31, warning of hefty fines for flouting traffic rules. Various rerouting and traffic arrangements have been made to ensure smooth vehicle movement.
Mumbai Police have anticipated a large crowd gathering around Juhu sea beach and released a regulatory and prohibitory advisory. The advisory includes restrictions on parking facilities for vehicles on Juhu Church Road and Juhu Road during the specified hours from December 31, 2023, to January 1, 2024.
To ensure a safe and orderly New Year’s celebration, these measures aim to minimize traffic congestion and maintain public safety during the festivities.
