New Delhi: The country’s merchandise exports in October this year increased by 6.21%, reaching 33.57 billion dollars. However, during this period, the trade deficit rose to 31.46 billion dollars. According to the government figures released on Wednesday, imports in the said month increased to 65.03 billion dollars, compared to 57.91 billion dollars in October 2022.
The trade deficit for the country was 31.46 billion dollars in October. During the current fiscal year from April to October, exports decreased by seven percent to 244.89 billion dollars. Meanwhile, imports during this period decreased by 8.95 percent to 391.96 billion dollars. Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal stated that the trade figures indicate a revival in the export sector.
