Karnataka Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy affirmed on Tuesday that the implementation of the Brand Bengaluru plan is underway to ensure the methodical and systematic development of the city.
Responding to queries from Congress MLA NA Harris regarding the Brand Bengaluru report and future action plans during the Legislative Assembly’s Question Hour, Reddy highlighted the city’s historical titles like Garden City, Pensioners’ Paradise, and IT Hub. He acknowledged the significant population growth in Bengaluru and expressed Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar’s vision for the city’s methodical development.
Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar has actively gathered input from numerous organizations and individuals representing diverse perspectives. Reddy shared that over 70,000 suggestions were received on various aspects of Bengaluru, covering themes such as Green Bengaluru, Healthy Bengaluru, People’s Bengaluru, Educational Bengaluru, and Technology Bengaluru. These suggestions are presently undergoing evaluation by the respective departments, and Reddy assured that they would be implemented upon completion of the assessment.
Additionally, Reddy informed that Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar aims to guide Bengaluru in a new direction through a working group led by the Chief Secretary. He outlined plans to establish a coordination committee for Greater Bengaluru under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s leadership.
Despite presenting a well-defined plan for Bengaluru’s development, Reddy observed a lack of understanding of the project’s scale among Opposition leaders. He emphasized the government’s commitment to the systematic development of Bengaluru and underscored the necessity of cooperation from all parties. Reddy addressed criticism, stating that while the Opposition claims no progress, the previous government left behind a debt of ₹25,000 crore along with outstanding dues. He cited an example of opposing views within the BJP regarding a flyover at Chalukya Circle, raised by MLA Munirathna.
