Once again, there is a rise in COVID-19 cases in the country. In the last 24 hours, Kerala has reported 300 new cases, along with three deaths. This data was released by the Central Health Ministry on Thursday. According to the Health Ministry, there have been 358 new COVID-19 cases nationwide in the past 24 hours, with 300 of them reported in Kerala alone. This has increased the total number of active cases in the state to 2,341. Meanwhile, the total number of active cases in the country has risen to 2,669.
The total number of COVID-19-related deaths in Kerala has crossed 72,000. Despite the increase in cases, Kerala’s Health Minister, Veena George, reassured that there is no need to worry, and the health system is well-prepared to handle the virus. In the same period, Karnataka reported two new deaths, and Punjab reported one death due to COVID-19.
‘No Need to Panic’ Amid the rising COVID-19 cases in the country, Maharashtra’s Health Minister has advised people not to panic, stating that the state government is fully prepared to tackle the situation. Tanaji Sawant, the Health Minister of Maharashtra, mentioned that a person infected with the new COVID-19 variant JN.1 has been found in the state. He assured that the health system in the state is ready to deal with the new variant, and there is no need for people to panic.
Sawant urged people to consult a doctor if they experience any symptoms of illness. He also emphasized the importance of adhering to COVID-19 regulations. Continuous genetic sequencing is being conducted in the state. People have been reminded to wear masks. In the last 24 hours, Maharashtra reported 10 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of active cases in the state to 45. Tamil Nadu reported 12 new cases, with the total active cases reaching 89. Karnataka reported 13 new cases, and the total number of active COVID-19 patients in the state is now 92.
