The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has lodged a fresh complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. This complaint is in relation to Gandhi allegedly labeling Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “panauti (bad omen)” and “jaibkatra (pickpocket)” during a public rally in Barmer, Rajasthan, which is gearing up for elections.
The BJP characterized Gandhi’s remarks as a vicious abuse, character assassination, and an effort to mislead the public. The complaint highlighted Gandhi’s use of the term “panauti” in reference to Modi’s presence at the cricket World Cup final that India lost.
The BJP strongly condemned the insinuation that the Prime Minister could bring ill luck, emphasizing that victory in a sports event is determined by the teams’ strengths, not the audience.
