People have turned to X as a copyright-free platform to voice their opinions and share videos and images depicting the severe pollution situation.
The air quality in Delhi-NCR has deteriorated significantly, leading to not only eye irritation but also respiratory difficulties among residents. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi reached a worrisome level of 413 (falling under the severe category) on November 4. With the worsening conditions, individuals have resorted to X to express their concerns and disseminate visual evidence of the situation.
One such instance is a visual shared by ANI, showcasing the ITO area in Delhi enveloped in a dense smog.
Another individual shared a video depicting the Agra expressway shrouded in smog.
A third person conveyed their illness due to the pollution.
Delhi’s AQI experienced a sharp rise from 392 to 468 on November 3, attributed to a calm breeze, decreasing temperatures, and unfavorable northwesterly winds carrying pollutants from crop residue burning. Consequently, Delhi’s air quality has persistently oscillated between the “very poor” and “severe” categories over the past week.
For reference, the AQI scale categorizes air quality as follows: 0-50 is “good,” 51-100 is “satisfactory,” 101-200 is “moderate,” 201-300 is “poor,” 301-400 is “very poor,” and 401-500 is “severe.” An AQI exceeding 500 falls into the “severe plus” category.
