Election Forum: Currently, India boasts several Vande Bharat trains, considered the country’s most modern and advanced trains. Traveling on a Vande Bharat train is akin to air travel in terms of experience. On India TV’s election forum, Central Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared an intriguing revelation. He revealed the thought process behind the name of India’s most modern and advanced train, the Vande Bharat Express.
Ashwini Vaishnaw explained that during a planning meeting for the Vande Bharat train, Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested that the train’s name should evoke a sense of pride among every citizen. At that moment, Prime Minister Modi personally proposed the name “Vande Bharat,” and this name resonated with everyone. Today, the Vande Bharat train is a source of pride for the entire nation, and we all travel on it comfortably.

The Railway Minister, speaking on India TV’s election forum, recalled that in 2014, when the Bharatiya Janata Party came into power, discussions began on how to introduce world-class trains in India. At the time, the idea of bringing world-class trains to India was met with skepticism, and it was suggested that the trains should be imported. However, Narendra Modi decided to take a different approach. He declared that Indian engineers would design the trains, and the manufacturing would be done in India itself, resulting in the birth of the Vande Bharat train. Today, we are manufacturing a new Vande Bharat train every week, and soon, we plan to export Vande Bharat trains abroad.
