The PM Vishwakarma scheme: The government has called a meeting of senior officials from states, public sector banks (PSBs), and State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) to implement the ‘PM Vishwakarma’ (PM Vishwakarma) scheme on Monday, August 28. The aim of this scheme is to help traditional artisans and craftsmen, and it has a total budget of ₹13,000 crores.
This scheme will be launched on September 17 and will be implemented by three ministries – MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises), Skill Development, and the Finance Ministry.
An official stated that under the PM Vishwakarma scheme, the goal for the current fiscal year is to include more than 3 lakh beneficiaries. They mentioned that the Skill Ministry has convened a meeting on August 28, which has invited Chief Secretaries of states, Managing Directors of banks, and representatives from SLBCs.
The official added that the meeting will discuss the proposal to implement the PM Vishwakarma Scheme and the process of identifying beneficiaries of the scheme.
Loan Eligibility After 4-5 Days of Training Under the scheme, skilled laborers will be provided with 4-5 days of training to enhance their skills. Afterward, they will become eligible to apply for loans. The official stated that for the current fiscal year, they have set a target to provide loans to 3 lakh beneficiaries. The scheme will particularly focus on rural areas.
