The Jawan wave continues to surge. Released in theaters on September 7, the film has successfully amassed over ₹ 366 crore (Hindi version) at the domestic box office in just nine days. Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh, in his latest report, anticipates that the movie will effortlessly surpass the ₹ 400 crore milestone during its second weekend. On Friday alone, the film raked in ₹ 18.10 crore. According to Taran Adarsh, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan is poised for an “uninterrupted run” ahead. His Instagram post reads, “350 NOT OUT… Jawan surpasses the ₹ 350 crore mark on Day 9 [second Friday], and it should comfortably cross ₹ 400 crore in Weekend 2 itself… A SUPERB HOLD on [the second] Friday sets the stage for a FANTASTIC, UNINTERRUPTED RUN in the days to come… [Week 2] Friday: ₹ 18.10 cr. Total: ₹ 366.08 cr. (Hindi version, India). Box office.” Additionally, the Tamil and Telugu versions of the film collectively earned ₹ 44.35 crore at the box office.
Since its release, Jawan has been breaking box office records, emerging as Bollywood’s biggest opener and achieving the quickest ₹ 300 crore milestone. Interestingly, many of these records were initially set by Shah Rukh Khan himself, with his previous release, Pathaan, which Jawan is now surpassing.
Jawan received glowing reviews from both critics and audiences alike. In a review for NDTV, film critic Saibal Chatterjee awarded the film 3.5 stars out of 5. He remarked, “Who is better equipped to handle all this than SRK? Even while portraying a larger-than-life action hero on a mission to confront a powerful industrialist who has wronged him and his nation in numerous ways, SRK remains grounded in reality, infusing the story with humanity while projecting an invincible, superhero-like persona.”
