Advance booking has commenced nationwide for Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming action film, “Jawan,” scheduled for release on September 7.
The advance booking for “Jawan” in India has recently become available. A week prior to the film’s release, the makers of “Jawan” announced the opening of ticket bookings and released a promo featuring Shah Rukh Khan. Tickets, some priced as high as ₹2.4K, are selling rapidly due to the tremendous buzz surrounding the film, which follows Shah Rukh Khan’s blockbuster “Pathaan” by about eight months.
In just one hour, more than 20,000 “Jawan” tickets were sold, as reported by film trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan on Twitter. He mentioned that “Jawan” is set to become Shah Rukh Khan’s second ₹100 crore opener after “Pathaan,” making him the first actor in Bollywood history to achieve this feat.
Additionally, trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared that “Jawan” had a flying start in national chains for advance bookings, with thousands of tickets sold.
“Jawan,” directed by Atlee, features Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi alongside Shah Rukh Khan. Advance bookings for the film opened around 10 am on a Friday.
The film is set to release worldwide on September 7 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, with screenings available in 2D and IMAX formats. The costliest “Jawan” ticket, priced at ₹2400, appears to be in Delhi, but fans do not seem deterred by the high prices, as shows are almost sold out.
The film’s pre-release event has created a frenzy in Chennai, Hyderabad, and other cities, with shows selling out for the first day.
The excitement surrounding “Jawan” is so intense that Shah Rukh Khan’s fan club, SRK Universe, has organized fan shows in over 300 cities in India, setting a record for any Hindi film star.
Yash Paryani, the co-founder of SRK Universe, mentioned, “SRK Universe is organizing multiple shows of ‘Jawan’ in over 300 cities in India. We are expecting participation from 85,000 SRK fans on the first day and we plan to welcome ‘Jawan’ with celebrations across the country.”
Ahead of the film’s release, Red Chillies Entertainment, the production banner behind “Jawan,” expressed the end of fans’ anticipation and encouraged them to book their tickets for the film’s release on September 7, 2023, in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
The film is anticipated to earn ₹125 crore globally on its opening day, with trade expert Atul Mohan suggesting that “Jawan” is set to break previous opening day records and achieve exceptional earnings of approximately ₹70 crore from the Hindi market, an additional ₹20 crore from the southern market, and a global total exceeding ₹125 crore on day one alone.
