The iQoo 12, set to launch in India on December 13, will feature the powerful octa-core 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. Globally unveiled on November 7, the iQoo 12 series includes the standard variant and the iQoo 12 Pro. Essential details about the processor, operating system, and availability in India have been previously confirmed by the company. The Indian version of the iQoo 12 will specifically boast the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and run on Android 14-based Funtouch OS 14, serving as the successor to the iQoo 11 5G. Additional software information for the upcoming handset has been disclosed by iQoo India CEO Nipun Marya.
In a post on X, Nipun Marya shared that the Indian variant of the iQoo 12 5G will receive three years of software updates and four years of security patches. The image accompanying the post highlighted that the phone will come with minimal bloatware, possibly excluding features like Hot Apps or Hot Games. The iQoo 12, already confirmed to debut with Android 14-based Funtouch OS 14 out-of-the-box, will be exclusively available for purchase on Amazon and the official iQoo e-store.
Earlier revelations from the company disclosed that the Indian variant of the iQoo 12 will mirror its Chinese counterpart, featuring the octa-core 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. The global version of the phone sports a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1.5K (1,260×2,800 pixels), a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, and an aspect ratio of 20:9.
For its camera setup, the base iQoo 12 model includes a 50-megapixel 1/1.3-inch primary sensor, a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto shooter with 100X digital zoom, and a 50-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens. The front camera boasts a 16-megapixel sensor. A robust 5,000mAh battery with 120W wired fast charging support powers the device, and it incorporates an in-display fingerprint sensor for enhanced security.
The iQoo 12 is available in China in three color options – Burning Way, Legend Edition, and Track Version, with the model starting at CNY 3,999 (approximately Rs. 45,000) for the 12GB + 256GB variant. As of now, specific details regarding the price and storage variants of the Indian version remain undisclosed.
