Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a conversation with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine, in the midst of India’s intensive efforts to evacuate its nationals, predominantly students, from the country currently under attack from Russia.
This communication follows Prime Minister Modi’s initial discussion with President Zelenskyy on February 26, which occurred shortly after the outbreak of full-scale conflict between Russia and Ukraine on February 24.
President Zelenskyy provided Prime Minister Modi with a comprehensive overview of the conflict situation and the ongoing negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. Expressing profound concern over the escalating conflict and the resulting humanitarian crisis, the Prime Minister reiterated his call for an immediate cessation of violence. He underscored India’s consistent stance in favor of peaceful conflict resolution and direct dialogues between the involved parties.
PM Modi extended his gratitude to Ukrainian authorities for their assistance in evacuating over 20,000 Indian citizens from Ukraine. He conveyed his deep apprehension for the well-being of Indian students who remain in Ukraine and stressed the urgency of their prompt and secure evacuation. Since the commencement of hostilities, PM Modi has engaged in a series of discussions with high-ranking officials.
Under Operation Ganga, over 10,000 Indian students have been successfully evacuated from Ukraine in the past week. The Prime Minister remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of Indian nationals affected by the conflict.
