The Health Department of the Bihar government, in response to the increasing pace of the COVID-19 pandemic, has issued an alert to all hospitals and directed random testing at the state’s airports.
Patna: With a surge in cases of the new JN-1 variant of COVID-19 reported nationwide, the Bihar government is now on high alert. The state government has instructed all districts and hospitals to increase COVID-19 RT-PCR testing. Additionally, random testing for travelers arriving at the airports in Patna, Darbhanga, and Gaya has been mandated. These directives have been issued by the Health Department.
Patients with fever and respiratory symptoms to undergo COVID testing As per the directives issued by the Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department on Friday, COVID testing will be conducted for all patients presenting with fever, cough, and respiratory-related illnesses in hospitals. Instructions have been given to increase RT-PCR testing in districts. Hospitals have been directed to ensure the availability and efficiency of facilities such as oxygen, ICU beds, medications, etc. The availability of masks and sanitizers has also been emphasized.
752 new cases reported in the last 24 hours It should be noted that 752 new cases of COVID-19 were registered in the country in the last 24 hours. The number of active patients has increased to 3,420. These are the highest number of cases of COVID-19 reported in a single day in the country since May 21, 2023. According to the statistics from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the country so far is 4.50 crores. In the last 24 hours, four people have died due to infection, bringing the total number of deaths from this pandemic to 5,33,332.

The number of people who have recovered from this illness has increased to 4,44,71,212. The national recovery rate is 98.81%, while the mortality rate is 1.19%. According to the ministry, a total of 220.67 crores doses have been administered under the COVID-19 vaccination campaign in the country.
