Priyanka Chopra has relinquished her ownership of the New York restaurant Sona. Chopra, along with Maneesh Goyal, had co-founded the Indian eatery in 2021. A statement from the actor’s representative confirmed the news to the media, stating, “Priyanka has stepped away from her partnership at Sona.” Despite this change, the restaurant will continue its operations.
The statement emphasized that the establishment of this business marked a significant achievement in Priyanka’s career, highlighting her continuous efforts to showcase Indian culture through various means, including storytelling in films, TV, and culinary artistry.
Maneesh Goyal expressed that while Priyanka’s direct involvement as a creative partner would cease, her influence and contributions are deeply woven into Sona’s identity. He remarked, “Her fingerprints are all over Sona. While she will no longer be involved as a creative partner moving forward, she remains in the Sona family, and we are excited for our respective new chapters ahead.”
Sona was established in March 2021, amidst Covid-19 restrictions, yet quickly gained a substantial following on social media. The restaurant attracted numerous celebrities from its inception. Priyanka frequently shared images from the establishment and even hosted family gatherings there.
In 2022, Priyanka also introduced the Sona Home collection, featuring items like dinnerware, table linens, bar accessories, decor, and gifts.
