Our increasing reliance on technology is reshaping the way we accomplish tasks, with robots and AI taking center stage. While these groundbreaking inventions may seem revolutionary, there’s more to them than meets the eye. Technological advancements continue to emerge, including a recent creation by a group of students: a robot powered by a rechargeable battery.
Four students from Surat have developed a robot that can mimic human walking and even pull a rickshaw. According to these students, the primary goal behind this robot is to continuously improve its capabilities for use in various fields. Remarkably, it only required ₹30,000 and 25 days to construct. Robots are no longer just a distant concept, and they do have their place in specific fields. However, it’s crucial to determine precisely which fields benefit from their application.
This robot has been designated as a rickshaw puller, but its implications raise concerns. It’s important to remember that manual labor in our country is often associated with caste. Therefore, if we possess technology capable of creating a rickshaw puller, why not develop something that can reduce the physical strain of this labor instead of completely replacing the job? These are choices that shape our society and its values.
